With our Designer-in-Residence, Joan McGowan-Michael, we’ll focus on the finer points of fitting, tune up your knitting and immerse ourselves in color, all while enjoying a beach retreat with new friends.

Joan is the talent behind White Lies Designs and the author of Knitting Lingerie Style, as well as the recognized diva of "sexy at any size." Terms & Conditions:

• Full payment is due to complete registration.  In the event you must cancel, a refund may be requested until August 15, 2009, but a $100 nonrefundable fee will apply.  No refunds will be given after August 31, 2009.  If, for any reason, Bonita Knit & Sew or Bobbin's Nest Studio has to cancel the event, a full refund will be given.
• Every effort will be made to provide you with your first choice in lodging.  Waiting lists will be established as necessary in case of cancellations.
• A confirmation letter with key information will be sent upon receipt of a completed registration form and full payment of the registration fee.

Couture Fitting with Joan McGowan-Michael

• Adding designer shaping to your knitted garments is easy once you know a few simple rules and how to apply them. Flatter your figure by shaping any garment as you knit it - darts, ease, and short row shaping are all important elements for a custom fit. You'll learn which ones to use to play up your specific body type to it's best advantage! You'll come away with a complete set of your own body measurements and the skills needed to customize knits to fit your shape.
• Joan McGowan-Michael has been professionally designing clothing for over 25 years. Her company, White Lies Designs, specializes in patterns and yarn for unique, vintage-inspired romantic knits in a wide range of sizes.
• We will provide a complete kit for a gorgeous knitted tank/tee, and the tools needed to customize the pattern for your shape.

Update Your Knitting Repertoire with Bonita Knit & Sew

• We all have our "go-to" knitted projects, but are yours fresh and current? In this interactive class, we'll take a hard look at those favored projects we've relied on and show you how to bring them to the forefront of fashion. You'll update your look, and the loved ones you knit for will thank you as well! Bring your "old faithfuls" and you'll receive fresh new patterns and ideas to inspire you.
• Susan Schlesinger, owner of Bonita Knit & Sew, has been knitting since the late seventies, so you can just imagine the time-warp garments she has knit over the years!
• You'll come away with a fresh bank of project ideas, and the patterns to knit them up.

Color Immersion with Bobbin's Nest Studio

• Don't think you have an "eye" for color? Absolutely know what yarns you love, but have no idea what colors look best on you or how to blend colors? Help is on the way. Harmonizing colors can make you look fabulous! You'll explore color inspiration and how it relates to your personal style. If you are one of the many who always ask "Does this color look good on me?", then this is the class for you!
• Join Erin McGee, crafty girl turned interior designer turned Bobbin's Nest Studio store owner in learning all about color. Erin's background in Color Theory makes her the perfect guide to the lowdown and the basics on how it pertains to knitting. This is typically an entire semester-long college course.
• We will be using Reader's Digest: Knitter's Yarn Palette and The Knitter's Book of Yarn as our textbooks.
